This small die proof, printed in grayish black, is one of only 5 known. It is printed on india, with card backing. It is not known to the author if this item has been cut down from a larger format die proof. 

According to Brazer, around 1879 five sets of proofs of various postage issues, newspaper stamps, and the 1847 stamps were ordered printed at the direction of a Mr. Goodall, then president of the American Bank Note Company.
