#948 Photo Essay (Model)

This item an original photo-essays made of the model for the 1947 CIPEX Exhibition souvenier sheet. Similar photo-essays were distributed to members of the Postage Stamp Advisory Committee for scrutiny and approval.

This essay comes from the former holdings of Sol Glass, and is an original photograph of the model. Considering that cancelled stamps were used in its construction, the original item from which this photo was taken classifies as a paste-up model.

Apparently, the Committee had the foresight to see past the crudeness of the model and ultimately approve its design (though not without significant changes to one of the Presidential subjects). Virtually every aspect of this model, aside from the subject stamps, were retained in the final design. Scroll down to see the final product.

The approved design, from my childhood collection.
