Turner Essay #52a

As seemingly crude as this likeness of Lincoln may appear at first glance, it nevertheless portrays an air of confidence and austerity. It is not known who prepared this surface printed, engraved design. However, Turner lists 19 different color varieties on four different types of paper. This die essay, complete with corner brackets, is printed in brown on thick laid paper.
